Buying through our links earns us a small commission at no extra cost to you — it's what keeps Tested at Depth running. Here is the full picture.
Commissions come from retailers, not you
When you click a Buy link and make a purchase, the retailer pays us a small percentage of the sale as a referral fee. This is a standard arrangement — retailers build it into their marketing budget. The price you pay is identical whether you arrive through our link or type the URL directly. We never mark up prices, add fees, or receive a cut from what you spend.
Brands cannot pay for placement or scores
No brand, retailer, or manufacturer can buy a higher score, a featured placement, or any editorial coverage on Tested at Depth. Every score on this site is calculated purely from user reviews, weighted by the reviewer's certification level. The algorithm is explained in full on the How Scoring Works page. We do not accept sponsored reviews, paid placements, or "partnership" arrangements that would influence what appears on the site.
Affiliate links never influence reviews
Affiliate links are added to gear pages purely for convenience — so you can buy something you have already decided you want. A product with no affiliate link available is not penalised in any way. A product with a high-commission affiliate deal is not promoted. The presence or absence of an affiliate link has zero effect on scores, rankings, or editorial decisions.
Why we use affiliate links
Running a site with accurate, certification-weighted gear data — and keeping the infrastructure behind it running — costs real money. Affiliate commissions are one of the few revenue streams that align our interests with yours: we only earn when you find and buy something you want. We prefer this to advertising, which would mean selling your attention to brands rather than serving your trust. If you would rather not use our affiliate links, simply navigate to the retailer directly. The scores, reviews, and data on this site are always free.
